New Season 25/26 - sign up to our new communication tool for fixtures and events!

As part of the new season the club have signed up to the Teamo app to assist with selection, teamsheets, payments and social events.

We know lots of people who do not play are still interested in the fixtures and social events so have created a social 'team' to allow people to sign up and access the information. Events will still be posted on Facebook as well but you'll be able to get tickets direct on Teamo.

It is an app so you do need to download it, input your email/phone and then join with a code which is PTT8P. If you need to be in another team as well you can let myself or Ricky Bushell know through the app.

Colts Summer Dates

SUMMER DATES Over the summer we run monthly session to give the kids a chance for a run out with their sticks in the hope that they don’t forget everything they’ve learned when we return in September. These are free to attend and run in the usual 10am-11.30am slot at Warlingham School on the second Sunday of the month apart from August.

These dates are the 11th of May, 8th of June and the 13th of July.

All are welcome so feel free to come along or bring a friend!

Kenley Hockey Club - Colts - 2024/25 Season

Dear Parent / Carer,

Welcome to the Colts section of Kenley Hockey Club and the 2024/25 season. We hope that you and your child/children are looking forward to getting back into regular hockey.

This article will hopefully provide you with all the information you need for the season ahead but please feel free to ask any of the coaches if you have any questions not answered in below..

A full list of committee members can be found on the club’s website but our key members are:

The club is run by a large number of volunteers and we welcome any oƯers of help from all members and hope that you will feel able to get involved. If seeing your child playing hockey makes you want to give it a try yourself, our adult teams are all very welcoming.

Whilst we hope your child will be happy and content at the club, we understand that sometimes questions, concerns or diƯiculties may arise. Please feel able to raise these as soon as possible, so we can rectify things at the earliest opportunity. If you have a question regarding coaching, please approach the coach in the first instance. Our coaches will be happy to speak to you before or after training but please don’t interrupt coaching sessions, as this may distract the coach when they need to be supervising the children.

If you have any concerns about your child, another child or about the behaviour of any adult at the club, please speak to the club’s Designated Safeguarding OƯicer Shelly Nash. Shelly can be contacted by email at khccolts@gmail.com.

2024/25 SEASON

Training sessions start on 15th September 2024 and run through to 15th December 2024, restarting after the Christmas break on 5th January 2025.

Note that on 22nd September 2024 the colts training session will finish early at 11am to allow colts and their families to travel to the clubhouse for the Back To Hockey Sports Day, the first of the season's social events. The bar will be open and the BBQ lit for a day of Kids Vs Adults hockey and hockey themed sports day events.

MEMBERSHIP FORM

Please use this link for the Colts Membership Form to ensure that we have full and up to date information regarding your child. A separate form should be completed for each child attending colts. Junior Membership Form

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS

Annual subscriptions for the colts section covers all weekly Sunday sessions during the season:.

Annual subscriptions for under 16s are £50 a year for the first child and £40 for each additional family member.

Please note that the annual subscriptions for under 18s and those U16s playing in one of the club’s adult (Saturday) teams is £90 a year.

Match fees may apply to fixtures outside of these sessions (and you would of course be notified in advance if applicable).

TRAINING

Colts training sessions are held every Sunday 10am-11.30am, during the hockey season (including school half-term breaks. Sessions are held at Warlingham School Astro Pitch, Tithepit Shaw Lane, CR6 9AU.

We believe that playing hockey should be fun but there is an expectation that colts will listen to their coaches, follow instructions given and treat each other and the coaches with respect. This is to ensure that all children are kept safe and can get the most out of the training sessions.

JUNIORS & SENIORS

We welcome children of all abilities and experience into the colts section of the club from 5 to 16 years old. During training sessions the children are split into Juniors and Seniors based on ability and physical development. This split is decided upon by the coaches in order to ensure that all children get the most out of the training sessions.

KIT

All children are required to wear gum shields and shin pads whilst playing hockey. Children are welcome to bring their own sticks or borrow one of the clubs during the training session. Club branded kit is available via our kit supplier, TackleBag.co.uk, during ordering windows that are open several times during the season. We will let you know when these occur.

MATCHES

Occasional fixtures are arranged for the colts, usually during the second half of the season. Teams are based on ages and all colts are welcome and encouraged to participate in fixtures.

DROP OFF AND COLLECTION ARRANGEMENTS

All colts must be signed in on arrival at the pitch. All colts should be collected from the pitch and not leave until a coach has acknowledged their departure.

COMMUNICATIONS

Club communications will be predominantly via email and WhatsApp. To join the colts’ parents WhatsApp group, please opt-in on the membership form, see above. Any changes to training sessions due to poor weather etc. will be communicated as early as possible. We do hope that you and your child/children enjoy being part of Kenley Hockey Club. If you have any concerns, at any time, do please let me know.

Colts Update - March 2024

Dear Kenley Colts’ Grownups,

We write with a couple of updates and a few dates for your diaries.

U10s-Tournament (24 March)

We have been invited to join a fun mini-tournament with Addiscombe Hockey Club and Croydon & Old Whitgiftian Hockey Club. The tournament will be held at Monks Hill Sports Centre (Farnborough Avenue, South Croydon CR2 8HD) on Sunday 24 March, 10.30 to 12.00.

The teams will be mixed U10s (current school Y5). We may be able to accommodate one or two Y6 children but will want to keep it fair across all the teams. If you would like your Colt to play in the tournament please email Tim on: KHCColts@gmail.com.

Please note that there is no additional cost for participating, but you will need to arrange your own transport to and from the tournament ahead of the 10:30 meet time. Given that we will be away from our home pitch and many other children and adults will be in attendance, we ask that parents and carers remain at the pitch from a safeguarding perspective…but more importantly you’ll be wanting to cheer them on!

Colts training will continue as normal on the 24 March (10.00 to 11.30) at Warlingham School for all Colts, big and small, not taking part in the tournament.

Colts Vs Grownups

We come to the time of the year when we traditionally have the Colts Vs Grownups match. Colts have been fantastic this season and it would be great for them to be able to show off their skills to you all and potentially take away the Grownups’ undefeated record….

Given the early Easter this year, we are going to hold the match on 7 April, meeting at 10.00 as normal at the Warlingham astro, and finishing by 11.30. We will then go back to the clubhouse (Kenley, Sports Club, Little Roke Rd, Kenley CR8 5NF) for the end of season awards and some food.

We were really lucky last year that a couple of parents helped out with the food and it would be greatly appreciated if we could get a bit of support again this year. We will provide some pizzas but if we could get some help with a few other bits and bobs that would be fantastic.

If you are able to help, please let one of the coaches know at one of the sessions over the next couple of Sundays or email Simon on: KHCColts@gmail.com. Please can you also let us know of any food allergies that we need to be aware of.

Summer Term

Over the summer term we are aiming to put on one session a month and will send an email round with dates once the coaches have huddled up and organised our diaries. These sessions are included in the annual subscription cost, are a great way to keep all the skills learnt front of mind during the long hockey break, and usually warmer than the Sunday’s during the season.

Have a good Mother’s Day weekend. We’ll try and tire them out for you on Sunday morning.
